Waltham Railroad Grade
Pristine Waltham Railroad Grade Vanguard Housed in Waltham 10K Gold Fill Case
This Waltham Grade Vanguard Model 1908 was produced in 1943 in the midst of World War II when the fate of the world hung in the balance. Due to the conflict, railroad-grade pocket watches were a necessity for moving goods, men, and materials destined to thwart the Axis power's efforts. The design of the Waltham Vanguard was prized for its steadfast adherence to the strict safety regulations required of the railroad industry. As a result, Waltham's Vanguards were put into service as quickly as they were produced. Railroad employees often paid for these watches on terms and used them in the rigorous day-to-day life on the rails. Little did they realize an essential piece of equipment for their jobs would someday become a highly sought-after collectible. The configuration of this Waltham Vanguard features an uncommon "Waltham Vanguard 23 Jewel" Boxcar dial that shows beautifully with its heavy ink saturation numerals against a flawless white background. The top of the line Vanguard movement is housed in a gorgeous 10K gold fill case with crisp beaded bezels. When you hold this watch in your hand, you can feel the weight of history, the passage of time, the indomitable spirit of humanity, pressing on into adversity, into time, standing as a testament to those who came before us.
