Our Story
The Story Behind the Watches
A passion for American horology, one timepiece at a time.
Meet Jeff — The Pocket Watch Guy
For Jeff, pocket watches aren’t inventory — they’re artifacts of an extraordinary period in American manufacturing.
The Pocket Watch Guy specializes in late 19th and early 20th century American pocket watches. We focus on the great American watchmakers — Hamilton, Elgin, Waltham, and Illinois — companies that produced some of the finest precision instruments the world has ever seen.
Our goal has always been simple: offer one of the largest selections of vintage and antique pocket watches, each one professionally serviced and personally guaranteed. Whether you’re a seasoned collector or discovering pocket watches for the first time, we want to make the experience personal, educational, and enjoyable.
“Knowledge is of no value unless it is shared.”
— Jeff, The Pocket Watch Guy
That philosophy drives everything we do. We don’t just sell watches — we share the stories behind them. The history of the railroads, the craftsmanship of the movements, the lives of the people who carried them. Every watch has a story, and we believe that story adds immeasurable value.
Our Process
From Workshop to Your Collection
Sourcing
Every watch is personally evaluated for quality, historical significance, and collectibility. We only acquire watches we’re proud to stand behind.
Restoration
Each timepiece is completely disassembled, ultrasonically cleaned, carefully inspected, oiled, and adjusted. No shortcuts, no compromises.
Testing
After service, every watch is tested for accuracy and reliability. We don’t list a watch until we’re confident it meets our standards.
Guarantee
Every watch ships with a 1-year warranty, fitted gift box, and the peace of mind that comes from buying from a specialist.
