Sell Your Pocket Watch

We buy American pocket watches. Fair prices, expert evaluation, and a straightforward process.

Tell Us About Your Watch

For offers on watches you’d like to sell. Jeff reads every submission personally and replies within 24–48 hours.

What to photograph

  1. The dial — the face, straight on, with the whole case in frame.
  2. The movement — the works inside. Open the back cover; this is the shot that identifies the watch.
  3. The case back — the outside of the back cover, closed.
  4. Inside the case back — the hallmarks and numbers stamped on the inner surface.

If you are not comfortable opening the case, send what you can — any jeweller will open it safely in a minute, and Jeff can work from the outside shots in the meantime.

What We Buy

  • American pocket watches (late 19th – early 20th century)
  • Hamilton, Elgin, Waltham, Illinois, Ball, and other American makers
  • Railroad-grade movements
  • Gold and gold-filled cases
  • Watchmaker tools and parts
  • Single watches or entire collections

Why Sell to Jeff?

  • Fair offers based on genuine expertise and current market values
  • We tend to pay more than general antique dealers
  • Quick evaluation — typically within 24-48 hours
  • Simple, transparent process from start to finish
  • No pressure, no obligation — just an honest offer

How It Works

1. Send Photos

Email photos of your watch to jeff@thepocketwatchguy.com. Include: the dial, movement (if accessible), case back, and any hallmarks or serial numbers.

If the case doesn't open easily, please don't force it. Any local jeweler can open it safely in a minute, and a scratched case is worth less than an unopened one. The dial and case back alone are usually enough for me to go on.

2. Receive an Offer

Jeff will evaluate your photos and provide a fair offer based on the watch’s condition, rarity, and current market value. No obligation whatsoever.

3. Get Paid

If you accept the offer, ship the watch and receive prompt payment. It’s that simple.
