We have the beautiful antique damasking checkerboard pattern on the nickel silver ¾ plate movement highlighted gold lettering. The movement has 23 Ruby jewels, up down wind indicator, lever set, double roller and is adjusted to 6 positions and is also adjusted to heat and cold. This fine movement is also designed with a high grade micro-regulator, gold balance weights, both screw and flush jewel settings with a gold center wheel and train all designed for extreme accuracy. The fine case is in excellent condition without flaws. This fine Waltham Pocket Watch would make an excellent timepiece for daily carry or as a wonderful addition to any collection.
This Waltham Dial is referred to as a Quadruple Sunk Railroad Dial. The Boxcar Railroad font were designed to be bold and easy to read. We have the Waltham Boxcar font around the outer circumference with every minute maker a simple hash mark. Then we have the sunken center chapter with the Waltham logo. Then we have the raised outer circumference for the bold Arabic numerals. This ornate dial then has 2 sunken sub chapters one for Up Down Indicator and the other for the custom Waltham second hand. These fine dials are made using 4 Copper Plates soldered together and then baked with many layers of Silica giving the dial the deep rich Porcelain finish. The fine porcelain dials are delicate and subject to crazing after years of use on the rails. This Waltham Dial has minor craze lines and a repair at 8 position, not unusual but I need to mention. This Waltham Vanguard 23 Jewel Pocket Watch shows beautifully and is sure to be appreciated for many generations to come.
