This high-grade 21 Jewel Riverside Movement circa 1936 is a size 16 and measures 2 inches in diameter the most popular of sizes. The Riverside was a mainstay in the American Waltham Watch Company line up of the finest pocket watches of the day. This grade Riverside Model 1621 was manufactured from 1935 – 1953, with a total production of only 77,238 in 21 production runs, a rare pocket watch in the Waltham line up of fine pocket watches. This Waltham Railroad Pocket Watch has one of the most classic and desired configuration with the Waltham 21 Jewel Montgomery Dial, Keystone Rose GF Railroad Case and the 21 Jewel Riverside Movement. I so hope the many pictures and extreme magnification helps tell the story of this extra fine Waltham Riverside Railroad Pocket Watch.

This antique Waltham is faced with an extra fine Waltham Montgomery Railroad Dial. The fine dial is referred to as a double sunk Montgomery Dial with every minute counted out in Arabic numerals around the outer circumference with each 5-minute marker highlighted in red, then the classic Waltham Arabic font numerals also on the raised outer portion. Then we have the recessed center portion for the Waltham logo and 21 Jewels written on the dial, a rare dial seldom seen. Then we have recessed sub chapter for the second hand. This dial is made using many layers of baked silica on to three metal plates. This gives the dial depth and that rich glass appearance. The dial has minor crazing under the bezel and does not show. This fine dial is highlighted with the original Blued Steel Railroad Hands Spade / Whip Hands, please note the ornate second hand a Waltham trademark. This fine Waltham Pocket Watches shows just beautifully and is sure to be a fine timekeeper for generations to come.

This Waltham Riverside Movement circa 1936 Model 1621 is in excellent condition without reckless jewelers tool marks or corrosion. This high-grade movement has a 21 fine Ruby jewels with beautiful antique damasking on the nickel plate movement. This Waltham Riverside is adjusted to 5 positions with a high-grade micro regulator, gold balance weights, raised and flush gold jewel settings, gold center wheel, lever set and stem wound with a steel escapement. All designed to be an extremely accurate timekeeper. This fine Riverside is housed in a beautiful Keystone Case Company Rose Gold Fill Case. The case is in excellent condition without major dings or dents, the case back does have a very minor ripple nothing major but I have to mention. This Waltham Riverside Pocket Watch is an excellent timekeeper ready for daily wear or a wonderful addition to any collection.

This is another excellent example of the late 19th early 20th Century ingenuity that made the American Pocket Watch a worldwide standard for accuracy and beauty in timekeeping.
