When this Waltham No. 3 Model 1883 rolled off the production line in 1892, it joined a legendary American tradition of wealth at a time in history when railroad barons, oil barons, and cattle barons ruled the day. It's a large size 18 timepiece with a Roman numeral dial highlighted with blue steel hands and housed in a robust 14K solid gold case in a hunting configuration. The engine turned detail still crisp, beautifully preserved. Aside from being the oldest watchmaker in the United States, the Waltham Watch Co. developed a reputation for fine dress watches that have endured modern-day. The condition of this piece speaks to the dedication of its proud owners across decades and the care they took in keeping it in good working condition. When you hold this watch in your hand you can feel the richness of the era that gave it life. You can hear the clink of champagne glasses, and the rattle of silver serving trays filled with caviar and other delectable culinary delights available to America's social and financial elite. From the red carpet to the display case, this is a timepiece that will stand out for its dazzling appearance.
