The Ball Hamilton Railroad Pocket Watch was manufactured in partnership with The Hamilton Watch Company and Webb C. Ball who set the standard for “Railroad Timekeeping” at the request of the U.S Department of the Interior in 1893, this was after a disastrous train accident between two mail trains with extensive loss of life and propriety all due to a faulty timepiece. Webb C. Ball did not produce any pocket watches himself; rather he worked with the major watch companies of the day to produce these finest of the Railroad Grade Pocket Watches. Webb C. Ball later went on to become the Head Timekeeper for all the major railroads and maintained the railroad timekeeping from Canada trough the U.S. and into Mexico. This all original Ball Hamilton Official Standard Pocket Watch is referred to as “triple signed” with the movement, dial and case all marked “Ball Model”. This is one of the highest grades and most collected of all Railroad Pocket Watches manufactured.
This is another excellent example of the late 19th early 20th Century ingenuity that made the American Pocket Watch a worldwide standard for beauty and accuracy in timekeeping.

This Ball Hamilton Grade 999P Movement is manufactured to the highest standards and named “Official Railroad Standard” Pocket Watch. This fine timepiece is a size 16 and which measures 2 inches in diameter the most popular of sizes. This fine extra fine movement has 21 jewels fine Ruby Jewels and Sapphire Pallet Fork Jewels. This fine Ball Hamilton 999P has the popular circular damasking, beautifully crafted and in excellent condition. The 999P Movement is adjusted to 6 positions with a double roller and is also adjusted to heat cold. This fine movement has a high-grade micro regulator, gold balance weights, raised and flush gold jewel settings, gold center wheel and train and is lever set stem wound with a steel escapement. This is a very collectable Ball Hamilton Grade 999P circa 1925; one of the finest of all Railroad Grade Pocket Watches manufactured. This fine Ball Hamilton has just been serviced and is an excellent timekeeper as designed.
The Ball Official Railroad Standard Dial is probably the most desired of all Railroad Pocket Watch Dials. This is referred to a Ball Hamilton Single Sunk Railroad Dial with the ornate Ball Arabic font and the Ball Official RR Standard Logo. This Ball patented dial is the height of functionality, a beautiful dial without defects. This fine dial is highlighted with the original Blued Steel Spade / Spade Railroad Standard hands. This fine Ball Hamilton is housed in this “Ball Model” J. Boss Keystone Case Company 10K Gold Fill Railroad Case. The Ball Model Case does show many years of appreciation. There is a bit of brassing on the case and the engraving is no longer crisp. I do include a polishing cloth and the case can be maintained as pictured with no brassing showing if desired, we call this character after many years of appreciation, no abuse just appreciation. This Ball Pocket Watch is referred to as “triple signed” that is the movement, dial and case are all marked Ball Model making for a very desirable and collectable pocket watch.
