This Tissot pocket watch is a compelling example of a World War II-era British military G.S.T.P. timepiece, supplied during a period when reliable, legible portable watches remained essential military equipment. G.S.T.P. stands for General Service Time Piece, a designation used for military pocket watches commissioned for British service during WWII. These watches were ordered for practical wartime use through British military procurement and were supplied by several Swiss manufacturers, including Tissot.

The rear case is stamped with the British Broad Arrow government property mark above G.S.T.P. and the issue number F057320, identifying it as part of the broader family of British General Service military pocket watches.

The watch features a practical off-white military dial signed Tissot, with bold Arabic numerals, luminous hour plots, luminous hands, an outer minute track, and subsidiary seconds at 6 o’clock. The case shows the expected wear of a utilitarian military object, with surface scratches, plating wear, and honest aging throughout. The movement is a Swiss manual-wind lever movement with gilt plates and exposed steel train wheels, consistent with the robust, serviceable construction expected of wartime issue watches.

Tissot was founded in Le Locle, Switzerland in 1853, and by the twentieth century had become one of the Swiss firms whose timepieces reached military and civilian markets alike. This example reflects the practical, no-nonsense design language of wartime British military watches: clear dial layout, durable construction, luminous legibility, and government-issued markings.

This is not a dress pocket watch. It is a purpose-built military timekeeper: clear, functional, and historically resonant. All vintage pocket watches are cleaned, oiled, and adjusted for accuracy and warranted for one full year from the date of purchase.
