Small in stature, serious in pedigree. Housed in a magnificent, unpolished solid platinum openface case, this 1913 Waltham Riverside features a diminutive 6/0 size movement cleverly suspended within a larger case profile by exquisite platinum lattice work. This movement was built to the same high standard that made the Riverside grade Waltham's most beloved name for six decades of production. The Riverside sat as the entry point into Waltham's better grades, one tier below the Vanguard and the Riverside Maximus at the top of the catalog. It was a name reserved for movements a discerning buyer trusted, and Waltham applied it across more than twenty models and a dozen different sizes.

Beneath the unpolished platinum caseback, you'll find the 17-jewel Riverside movement in a nickel finish, beautifully framed by the case's ornate lattice, produced at Waltham's factory in Waltham, Massachusetts. Everything about the movement reflects the confidence of an American factory at the peak of its craft.

1913 was a fitting year for a watch of this quality. Woodrow Wilson took the oath of office in March, Grand Central Terminal opened its doors to the traveling public in New York, the sixteenth amendment brought the federal income tax into American life, and by December Henry Ford's first moving assembly line was pushing Model T chassis out the door in a fraction of the time it used to take. This little Waltham left the factory the same year.

This is another excellent example of the late 19th and early 20th Century American ingenuity that made the Waltham name a worldwide standard for accuracy and beauty in timekeeping. All vintage pocket watches are cleaned, oiled, and adjusted for accuracy and warranted for one full year from the date of purchase.
