The Western Clock Manufacturing Company made their first pocket watch in 1899 and continued to make affordable pocket watches through the 1970s. The line of Westclox Pocket Watches were advertised to be within 3 minutes a day and would hold a wind for 30 hours. The Westclox we sell still keep time and function to within the advertised standards. Although they were not designed to be as accurate as a jeweled pocket watch, this was a significant innovation in its day, an affordable mechanical pocket watch that most everyone could afford. This Westclox Pocket Ben is in excellent condition and keeping time as it was designed, within a few minutes a day. The only issue is a small crack in the plastic crystal; so minor I thought still a viable pocket watch to offer for sale. The Pocket Ben was a Westclox higher end offering with the ornate Glow in the Dark Hands, still luminescent highlighted and with the silver circle around the center dial. This Westclox Pocket Watch measures 2 inches in diameter, the most popular of sizes. The Westclox Pocket Watches were very popular and put a pocket watch in just about every men’s or boys pocket over the previous century.
