This elusive Grade 996 Hamilton Pocket Watch Railroad Movement is a lever set and a size 16 measuring two inches in diameter the most popular of sizes. This movement has 19 jewels, motor barrel, adjusted to 5 positions, double roller and is adjusted to heat and cold. The Hamilton 996 also has a high-grade regulator, solid gold balance weights, raised gold jewel cup settings, gold center wheel and train and is lever set stem and stem wound with a steel escapement. This is one of the finest of all Railroad Pocket Watches, a truly fine design that makes for an incredibly accurate pocket watch. This fine Hamilton Grade 996 has just been serviced and is and excellent timekeeper.
This Hamilton 996 is faced with one of the most popular of railroad dials, this pristine Montgomery Dial with every minute maker in Arabic numerals and every 5 minutes highlighted in red around the outer circumference. The Montgomery Dial is the height of functionality with little room left for error in timekeeping. This fine dial is in excellent condition with the popular antique Hamilton signed script. This wonderful Montgomery Dial is what is referred to as double sunk, with a sunken center chapter for the Hamilton logo and then a raised outer circumference for the stylized bold Arabic font with every minute marker in Arabic numerals and every 5-minute marker highlighted in red, then we have a sunken sub chapter for the second hand. These beautiful dials are made using three Copper plates soldered together, then coated with many layers of baked silica for the rich glass/porcelain finish. This dial is just beautiful and again one of the most popular of all Railroad Dials.
