Illinois Railroad Grade
Rare Illinois Railroad Grade Sangamo with Housed in Beautiful Yellow Gold Fill Case
This Illinois Grade Sangamo Model 5 is truly a rare find. Because of this watch's low production numbers (only 26,135 were produced) and its exquisite beauty, the demand for it remains high. This particular timepiece was produced in 1905, the same year the first train ever equipped with electric lights debuted. This Illinois Grade Sangamo's high-quality 23 jewel railroad grade movement and its date of production place it in the historic heart of the American railroad's glory days. The Sangamo movement is housed in a gorgeous B & B gold fill case and features a double-sunk enamel Montgomery dial highlighted by Illinois's signature purple heat-treated hands. The case back features magnificent engravings featuring cross-hatching, floral, scallop, and geometric designs with an initialed cartouch. It is truly a work of art. This turn of the century Illinois Sangamo is a highly treasured timepiece due to the combination of its rarity, beauty, and the high demand for the exceptional craftsmanship put into its design, making it a striking showpiece for collectors and railroad enthusiasts alike.
