In the midst of the roaring twenties the Illinois Watch Co. produced this gorgeous Illinois Grade Sangamo Special Model 13 in 1925. It is one of 11,200 produced, placing this watch among the rarest in the world. One of the more unusual and thus highly collectible features of this timepiece is it's size 17 case. This watch is a collector's dream. It features the Sangamo Special movement made of the highest grade materials and craftsmanship with 23 jewels. The movement is housed in a size 17 Wadsworth 14K white gold fill case, and is faced with a desirable Montgomery dial, highlighted by all original diamond hands. The case has some honest wear typically associated with a watch that rather than sitting on a shelf was out and about in the world of the early to mid-twentieth century. That it has survived in this condition speaks volumes to the care and appreciation this watch has experienced for nearly 100 years. If you're looking for a monument to the railroad timepieces of the 1920's to add to your collection, or maybe start a family heirloom tradition or a watch with a track record of standing up to daily wear this Sangamo Special is an ideal candidate.
