This watch began life as a high-grade Patek Philippe pocket watch movement, not as a factory-cased Patek Philippe wristwatch. That distinction is important. The movement is an early 18 jewel Patek Philippe & Co. Genève chronometer-grade caliber, serial number 92905, dating to approximately 1892 according to the accompanying documentation. It features striped decoration, wolf-tooth winding wheels, a large gold screw compensation balance, blued hairspring, jeweled endstones, and the level of hand finishing expected from one of Switzerland’s most important watchmakers.

The dial is especially attractive and gives the watch much of its character. It is a white enamel dial with Arabic numerals, an outer track highlighted by red numerals, subsidiary seconds, and original hands. The dial carries a wonderful dual signature: Wright Kay & Co. Detroit prominently at the top, with Patek Philippe & Co. signed at the subsidiary seconds chapter. The custom stainless steel case measures approximately 37mm excluding the crown and lugs, making it highly wearable by modern standards while still preserving the feel of an early pocket watch conversion.
