The Hampden Watch Company was one of the largest employers in Canton, Ohio during the late 19th century and in the early days of the 20th century. One of the fine crafted timepieces to roll off their production line was this wonderfully preserved Hampden Grade No. 105 Model 5 produced in 1914. This watch stands shoulder to shoulder with an era of human ingenuity. By 1914 the automobile and airplane were in the early stages of becoming staples of American transportation. Meanwhile, the railroads, where this railroad grade timepiece would have felt right at home, had grown into a coast to coast enterprise. The Hampden Grade No. 105 21 jewel movement is housed in a gorgeous Wadsworth case that features a wonderful country road scene engraving. It is faced with a highly desired railroad dial with exquisite heavy ink saturation giving this amazing configuration a robust gravitas. This watch makes a perfect gift or the start of a family heirloom tradition. It displays wonderfully in any collection and makes a stunning accent piece for any modern outfit if one desires to use this timepiece for daily wear.
