Hamilton Railroad Grade
Hamilton Railroad Grade 992 Housed in Keystone J. Boss Swing Out Case in Yellow Gold Fill
By 1917, the Hamilton Watch Company had been in business for 25 years. Their timepieces were famous for their accuracy; much of America's enormous railway network depended on them for both safety and efficiency.
This 1917 Grade 992 sports a flawless example of the highly coveted "Montgomery dial," created by Santa Fe Railway Watch and Clock Inspector Henry S. Montgomery. The outer track displays individual minutes numbered from 1 to 60.
It's hard to overstate the skill required to create a movement precise enough to take full advantage of a 60-minute Montgomery dial. More than 100 years later, this Hamilton's movement continues to uphold Lancaster's lofty standards.
The movement sits in a silky smooth nickel case, free from signs of wear and tear. Taken as a whole, this Hamilton Grade 992, Model 2 represents the height of early 20th century horology. It's ideal for daily carry or on display – a not-so-silent testimony to American ingenuity.
