The Hamilton Pocket Watch Company entered the market fairly late in the game, but set the bar high and focused their efforts. As their success grew, they declared themselves "The Watch of Railroad Accuracy." Thousands of railway workers depended on Hamilton to keep trains running safely and on time. The general public bought watches like this Hamilton Grade 974 to own a piece of their prized accuracy. Like all approved railroad watches, this dial displays black Arabic numerals and clear minute markers. It's lever set (to prevent accidental time changes). The beautifully preserved Grade 974 movement runs on the required 17 jewels. Accuracy tested to five positions and temperature compensated, it remains as it was: a thoroughly reliable timekeeper. The nickel silver case's beautifully preserved etching draws the then-obvious connection between Hamilton railroad watches and their mass appeal. This Hamilton Grade 974, Model 1 is suitable for daily carry or a comprehensive collection. All our treasured timepieces are completely disassembled, expertly cleaned and oiled (using the finest quality watch oil and gear grease) and adjusted for accuracy. Full one year warranty.
