Here we have this flawless Hamilton Railroad Grade 992B pocket watch, manufactured in 1953 at the historic Hamilton Watch Company factory in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. As the great American steam locomotives were giving way to diesel power, accurate time remained the heartbeat of the rails. It was the narrow margin between a safe journey and disaster. The legendary 992B was the watch trusted to keep that heartbeat steady. Over its celebrated 29 year production run, Hamilton produced well over half a million of these movements, cementing the 992B as a pinnacle of American railroad timekeeping.

This remarkable 992B Model 5 movement is a size 16, 21 jewel, lever set masterpiece. Adjusted to temperature and six positions, it features a nickel finish and the proprietary Elinvar Extra hairspring, developed by Hamilton specifically for this grade. Every micrometer of this movement was engineered for the demands of railroad service, from the exquisite gold jewel settings to the micro regulator and double roller escapement.

Housing this movement is a stunning piece of Hamilton history: the Model 15 case, first introduced in 1950. This represents the first and only stainless steel case Hamilton ever offered. It came factory cased and timed directly from Lancaster. These rare stainless steel cases have held up beautifully over the decades. They present a clean, rugged, and purposeful look that perfectly captures the profound spirit and enduring allure of a working railroad watch.

The face of this timepiece is just as captivating, featuring an immaculate Montgomery dial. With its intricate outer track displaying every single minute in numeric form, the Montgomery dial represents the ultimate standard in precise, instant railroad legibility. This is a truly beautiful piece of American horological history. It is ready for daily carry, for the serious collector, or to be displayed and cherished for generations to come.

All vintage pocket watches are cleaned, oiled, and adjusted for accuracy and warranted for one full year from the date of purchase.
