Hamilton Railroad Grade
Hamilton Railway Special Grade 992B Housed In Desired Hamilton Model 17 Case
From the late 1800s into the 20th century, Hamilton meant accuracy. Built for safety on the rails, Hamilton was the Rolex of its day. The story peaks in 1903 with the Grade 992, a benchmark that set the standard for generations. This Grade 992B Model 5, 21 Jewel pocket watch was produced in 1970. This is the final evolution and last production year for the American Hamilton Watch Company. The watch is pristine. A crisp, clean case with strong engravings gives it a steady, confident presence. Inside, a size 16 railroad-grade movement runs with 21 jewels and adjusted to six positions. The Melamine dial shows bold boxcar numerals paired with Black Spade/Whip hands—an unmistakable 992B prized by collectors. This watch was the workhorse timepiece of the American railway system through the first half of the 20th century. When you hold this watch in your hand it's easy to imagine the sights and sounds of the railways during the mid-20th century. It is truly a marvel of American engineering and in such excellent condition shows beautifully as an outstanding addition to your collection or as a valued family heirloom for generations to come.
