Extra Fine Antique Elgin Pocket Watch Housed in this Classic Hunter Case The Gentlemen’s Dress Pocket Watch of the Day circa 1891
Folks we have a fine offering for your consideration in this Elgin Hunter Case Pocket Watch Grade 102 circa 1891. This classic Elgin is a size 18 and measures 2 ¼ inches in diameter, a substantial pocket watch. This Gentlemen's Dress Pocket Watch of the day was a symbol of prestige and status and manufactured to the highest of standards, we have an excellent example with this fine configuration. The pristine Elgin 11 Jewel Movement, 14K Gold Fill Hunter Case, classic Roman Numeral Dial highlighted with the original Blued Steel Hands, all in excellent condition. The standard for the Railroad Grade Pocket Watch was not established until after 1895 and this would have been common for use on the rails or as the Gentlemen's Dress Pocket Watch of the day. In 1891 this was truly the scientific instrument of the day on par with the Smart Phones of current. This is another excellent example of the late 19th early 20th Century ingenuity that made the American Pocket Watch a worldwide standard for accuracy and beauty in timekeeping.
