This Elgin is faced with a beautiful porcelain dial. This dial has the classic Roman numerals and is in excellent condition and shows beautifully. These fine dials are ornately crafted, and this is a wonderful example. These dials were crafted using two Copper plates soldered together and then baked with many layers of Silica giving that deep glass like finish. This is also why it is so difficult to find these delicate dials in such fine condition. Then around the outer circumference we have the popular “railroad track” design, with a sunken sub-chapter for the second hand. This fine dial is highlighted with the original heat-treated Blued Steel Hands in excellent condition. This classic Elgin Hunter Case Pocket Watch shows beautifully and is sure to be appreciated for generations to come.
This early Elgin has a 11 Jewel Movement, a high jewel count for the day. This Grade 10 is stem wind and lever set. The movement is referred to as a Full Plate Movement with a Gilt Finish. Then we have a high-grade regulator, gold balance weights, flush pressed gold cup settings, with a gold center wheel and escapement all designed for accuracy and dependability. The fine movement is housed in this original 14K Gold Fill Hunter Case. This is a wonderful “Box style” Hunter Case with the popular coin edge and ornate design at both the top and bottom. This fine antique Elgin Pocket Watch has just been serviced and is an excellent timekeeper.
