Folks we have a truly fine offering for your consideration in this rare antique Illinois 23 Jewel Sangamo Pocket Watch circa 1907. This Illinois Sangamo was the scientific instrument of the day and manufactured to the highest of standards. This 23 Jewel Sangamo is a size 16 measuring 2 inches in diameter the most popular size pocket watch. This fine timepiece has wonderful hand engraving on the back cover; a knight and shield with a skull and crossbones on the shield and the personalized initials FCB. This is from the Knights of Pythias founded in 1864; the first fraternal organization to receive a charter under an act of the United States Congress. With the ideals of loyalty, honor, and friendship that are the center of the order. We have wonderful configuration with the 23 Jewel Sangamo Movement, desired antique Gothic double sunk dial, Wadsworth gold filled case and highlighted with spade/whip railroad hands. This is another excellent example of the late 19th early 20th Century ingenuity that made the American Pocket Watch a worldwide standard for accuracy and beauty in timekeeping. This Illinois Pocket Watch has been cleaned, oiled and adjusted for accuracy. This entails a complete disassembly and all parts cleaned and reassembled using the finest watch oil and gear grease. This Illinois Pocket Watch is warranted for one full year from the date of purchase.
