The Hamilton Grade 924 is a size 18 and measures 2 ¼ inches in diameter, a substantial pocket watch and the most popular size pocket watch at the turn of the century. This Gentlemen’s Dress Pocket Watch of the day was a symbol of prestige and status and manufactured to the highest of standards and we have an excellent example with this fine configuration. The pristine Hamilton 924 Movement, Spartan Silver Base Metal Case, Single Sunk Dress Dial highlighted with the original Blued Steel Spade Hands all in excellent condition. I so hope the many pictures and extreme magnification help tell the story of this fine Hamilton Pocket Watch.
This Hamilton 924 is faced with this extra fine Single Sunk Railroad Dial. This dial has the popular antique Hamilton signed script logo later changed to a block font. The porcelain dial has the stylized bold Arabic font numerals with every 5-minute marker highlighted in red around the outer circumference. Then we have a sunken sub chapter for the second hand. These beautiful dials are made using the two Copper plates soldered together, then coated with many layers of baked silica for that rich glass like porcelain finish. This fine dial is highlighted with the original heat treated Blued Steel Spade Hands. This pocket watch shows beautifully and is sure to be appreciated for generations to come.
The pristine Hamilton Grade 924 is a size 18 measuring 2 ¼ inches in diameter and is stem wound and lever set. This pristine movement has the ornate antique damasking highlighted with ornate black lettering. The Grade 924 has 17 fine Ruby Jewels, Brequet Hairspring, high-grade Micrometer Regulator, and Gold Balance Weights, raised Gold Jewel Cup Settings with a Gold Center Wheel and Train. This Gentlemen’s Dress Pocket Watch of the day is designed to the highest and standards and is housed in this Illinois Watch Case Company “Spartan Model” Case in a Base Metal Silver finish. The case is in excellent condition without personal monograms or dings and dents one might expect to find in a 107 year old pocket watch. This Hamilton Grade 924 has just been serviced and is an excellent timekeeper as designed.
