The Ball Waltham Railroad Pocket Watch was manufactured in partnership with the Waltham Watch Company and Webb C. Ball who set the standard for "Railroad Timekeeping" at the request of the U.S Department of the Interior in 1891. This came about after a disastrous train accident between two mail trains with extensive loss of life and property all due to a faulty timepiece. Webb C. Ball did not produce any pocket watches himself; rather he worked with the major watch companies of the day to produce these finest of the Railroad Grade Pocket Watches manufactured.
