Raymond Movement is lever set and stem wound and is a size 16 the most popular of sizes. This is a wonderful example of Elgin’s commitment to making the top of the line Railroad Pocket Watch. This model B.W. Raymond was manufactured from 1923 – 1944, with a total production of 185,000 in 90 production runs. This B.W. Raymond was a mainstay in the Elgin National Watch Companies line up of fine Railroad Grade Pocket Watches. This extra fine Elgin Grade #478 is cased in a rare and beautiful 14K Green Gold Fill Elgin B.W. Raymond Model marked case, a wonderful find. This fine Railroad Case was made for this movement by the Keystone Watch Case Co. and again marked B.W. Raymond Model on the back inside cover. I so hope the extensive pictures help tell the story of this extra fine Elgin Pocket Watch.

This fine Elgin Railroad Dial is one of the most popular of railroad dials, beautiful and the height of functionality. The dial is made of many layers of baked silica on two metal plates; this gives the dial that rich glass appearance. The classic Elgin Dial has the popular stylized “Boxcar” Arabic Railroad font. This dial is a single sunk dial with the raised outer circumference for the Elgin Arabic numerals and the Elgin logo in the center. Then we have a recessed sub chapter for the second hand. A stunning Elgin Railroad Dial in again just excellent condition. This pristine Elgin Railroad Grade Pocket Watch shows beautifully.

This high-grade Elgin Model B.W. Raymond Grade #478 Movement is in just excellent condition without reckless jewelers’ tool marks or corrosion. Beautifully manufactured with the B.W. Raymond in gold lettering. This is a 21 jewel movement and is adjusted to 5 positions with a high-grade micro regulator and solid gold balance weights. We also have solid gold jewel settings, gold center wheel and train, again lever set with a steel escapement. This fine Elgin Railroad Pocket Watch is an excellent timekeeper ready for daily wear or as a wonderful addition to any collection.

This is another excellent example of the late 19th early 20th Century ingenuity that made the American Pocket Watch a worldwide standard for accuracy and beauty in timekeeping.
