Folks we are pleased to offer for your consideration this antique Waltham Pocket Watch circa 1913. We have a high grade 21 Jewel Railroad Pocket Watch housed in this desired Waltham Salesman Display Case. This all-original Waltham Grade 645 Pocket Watch is a size 16 measuring 2 inches in diameter the most popular of sizes. These Salesman Display Cases were not offered for sale, they were used to display these fine movements offered for sale without exposing them to dirt and debris. At the turn of the century displaying these newly designed movements was the equivalent to displaying and sharing the latest scientific instrument of the day. This is truly a collector’s pocket watch with this wonderful configuration; Waltham Display Case, Waltham Railroad Grade 645 Movement, classic Roman Numeral Dial highlighted with beautifully Blued Steel Open Moon design hands. Hopefully the many pictures and magnification help tell the story of this finest of Railroad Pocket Watches.

This Waltham Grade 645 Pocket Watch is housed in this desired and now rare Waltham marked Salesman Display Case. These display cases were used to show the movement to potential customers without getting dirt and debris in the movement. These cases were not sold to the public so to speak. These cases functions a bit differently than the common pocket watch case, most cases have screw off or pressure held hinged bezels. This case the bezels are snap on or held in place with pressure. To open the front bezel to set time with the lever a case opener (dull knife) is needed, I do include a Case Opener Tool for this purpose. It is easy enough to open, so no worries. Again these were not sold to the public rather used by the jeweler of jobber of the day as they were referred. The case is in excellent condition with both bezels functioning properly and the Waltham Watch Co. engraving still crisp. I have not brought this case to a high polish; it does have some patina I decide to leave as is, if desired I can polish out the case. This is truly an exceptional Waltham Grade 645 Pocket Watch with a Salesman Display Case that tells a story in it self. This fine timepiece is ready for daily wear and would make a wonderful addition to any fine watch collection.

This fine Waltham is faced the desired porcelain Roman Numeral Dial. These dials were common before the turn of the century after about 1899 the Roman Numerals were not as common; we have a survivor in excellent condition. This dial is referred to as a single sunk dial. That is two pieces of Copper soldered together, one for the face and the other for the sunken second hand sub chapter. The dial is then baked with many layers of Silica to give that deep rich porcelain finish. This fine dial is highlighted with the original heat-treated Blued Steel Open Moon Hands. This fine Waltham Pocket Watch shows beautifully and is sure to be appreciated for generations to come. This fine movement has the antique circular damasking pattern worthy of the display case. The Grade 645 has a high-grade micro regulator, double barrel, gold balance weights, screw gold jewel settings, gold center wheel and train, lever set and stem wound with a steel escapement. This 645 is also adjusted to 5 positions and temperature, all designed for extreme accuracy. This Waltham Railroad Grade Pocket Watch is manufactured to the highest of standards. This fine timepiece has just been serviced and is an excellent timekeeper as designed.

This is another excellent example of the late 19th early 20th Century ingenuity that made the American Pocket Watch a worldwide standard for accuracy and beauty in timekeeping.
