The Hamilton Watch Company made a commit to manufacturing high grade service pocket watches including Railroad Pocket Watches and other service pocket watches including this design for the Electric Interurban Railway Systems. This high grade Hamilton Pocket Watch Grade 974 is stem wound and stem set and measures 2 inches in diameter the most popular of sizes. This all original Hamilton has a wonderful configuration with the rare and desired Montgomery Interurban Dial, Grade 974 Movement, Dueber Watch Case Company Yellow Gold Fill Case and highlighted with heat-treated Blued Steel Hands. I so hope the many pictures and extreme magnification help tell the story of this extra fine Hamilton Pocket Watch.

This fine porcelain Hamilton Electric Interurban Special is faced with the ornate and popular Montgomery Dial with every minute in Arabic numerals around the outer circumference and every 5-minute highlighted in red. This dial has a heavy ink saturation making for a striking dial. The dial is referred to as a Single Sunk Dial made using two Copper Plates soldered together one for the outer circumference and the other for the second hand. Then the dial is baked with many layers of Silica giving these dials that deep rich glass porcelain finish. This fine dial is highlighted with beautifully blued heat-treated steel Spade Whip Railroad Hands. This Hamilton Pocket Watch Electric Interurban Special Grade 974 shows beautifully and is ready for daily wear or as a wonderful addition to any collection.

This Hamilton Grade 974 Movement is in excellent condition without reckless jewelers tool marks or corrosion. This high grade 17-jewel movement is stem set and stem wound. This is referred to as a ¾ Plate Nickel Silver Movement and is adjusted to 3 positions and heat ad cold. This fine timepiece also has a Brequet Hairspring, Reed high-grade micro regulator, gold balance weights, gold jewel settings, gold center wheel and train with a steel escapement. This fine movement is housed in beautiful Yellow Gold Fill Dueber Case Company Case and is also in excellent condition. This Hamilton Pocket Watch Grade 974 has just been serviced and is an excellent timekeeper as designed.

This is another excellent example of the late 19th early 20th Century ingenuity that made the American Pocket Watch a worldwide standard for accuracy and beauty in timekeeping. This Hamilton Pocket Watch has just been serviced. The service entails a complete disassembly all parts cleaned in an ultra sonic bath and then reassembled using the finest watch oil and gear grease then adjusted for accuracy on a digital timer.
