Folks we have a truly special offering for your consideration, this rare American Waltham Pocket Watch; this is the highest of grades manufactured with a 23 Jewel Vanguard Movement with the Up/Down Wind Indicator. This all-original Waltham Railroad Pocket Watch in pristine condition and a rare find, with not only the highest of grades 23 Jewel Movement but we also have the rare Up/Down Wind Indicator installed. The Up/Down Wind Indicator is the sub register at the 12:00 position on the dial, this tells you how much time you have left on that wind or mainspring as to not accidentally let the pocket watch run out of mainspring and stop timing. This was a critical function for a pocket watch in railroad service and was still too expensive to produce in large quantities. The Waltham’s 23 Jewel Lever Set Movement is pristine and highlighted with gold lettering and beautifully ornate antique damasking on the nickel silver movement not seen on later models. This Railroad Pocket Watch has the most desired configurations with the rare Up/Down Wind Indicator, 23 Jewel Movement, Pristine Railroad Dial, Keystone Railroad Case and pristine Railroad Hands. The Waltham Watch Company was the leader in the Up/Down Wind Indicator and manufactured many models of the Vanguard, however very few had a 23 Jewel Movement and the Up/Down Indicator installed. We have a very rare and collectable Railroad Grade Pocket Watch in a league with only the very finest Railroad Pocket Watches manufactured. This Waltham Dial is a rare Montgomery Railroad Dial in pristine condition. This is quadruple sunk Waltham Up/Down Railroad Dial, an extremely rare dial with the Waltham Logo and Vanguard 23 Jewels spelled out on the dial. This fine dial is actually made of 4 pieces of metal soldiered together then baked with many layers of silica giving the dial that deep rich glass/porcelain finish. Then we have the recessed center portion for the rare logo, and then we have the raised outer circumference with the classic bold Waltham Boxcar style Arabic Railroad font. Then only the Montgomery Dial has every minuet marker counted out in black Arabic numerals and every 5-minute marker highlighted in red Arabic numerals around the outer circumference. Then we have two recessed sub chapters one at the 12:00 position for the Up/Dn Indicator, then we then another sub chapter for the second hand at the 6:00 position. This Waltham Dial is truly are rare find in such fine condition, with no issues. The Waltham Dial is both beautiful and the height of functionality. This antique Waltham Pocket Watch is stunning, the highest of grades and shows just beautifully.

This pristine Waltham 23 Jewel Vanguard Movement is again the highest of grades and is housed in a beautiful J. Boss Keystone Case Co. Case, the highest quality of Keystone Cases. This case is the popular Mainliner style in a 10K Rose Gold Fill. This railroad case is highly desired and is in excellent condition functioning perfectly. The Mainliner is one of the more popular of Railroad Pocket Watch Cases and this is an excellent example. This stunning Rose GF Elgin Mainliner Case is a size 16 case measuring 2 inches in diameter the most popular size Railroad Pocket Watch manufactured. This Railroad Pocket Watch was used on the rails and has many “Railroad Watch Inspectors” marks on the inside back cover (which I tried to capture in the pictures) and has been meticulously maintained. To highlight this pristine J. Boss Keystone Railroad Case and Railroad dial we have the original blued steel hands all in excellent condition, this highest grade Waltham Pocket Watch again shows just beautifully.

This Waltham 23 Jewel Vanguard has a pristine lever set and stem wound movement. We have the beautiful antique damasking on the nickel silver plates highlighted with the gold lettering, just beautifully crafted. Then we have 23 extra fine Ruby Jewels, adjusted to 5 positions and heat and cold. Then we have a Double Roller, high-grade Micro Regulator, Gold Balance Weights, Gold Jewel Settings, Gold Center Wheel and Train with a Steel Escapement all designed for extreme accuracy. This Waltham 23 Jewel Vanguard Pocket Watch has just been serviced and is an excellent timekeeper.

This is another excellent example of the of the late 19th early 20th Century ingenuity that made the American Pocket Watch a world wide standard for accuracy and beauty in timekeeping.
