Folks we have another wonderful find for your consideration in this antique Hamilton Pocket Watch Railroad Model 992L, the “L” designation is for lever set. This fine Hamilton 992 Movement is housed in this classic 10K Rose Gold Filled Mainliner Case. The Hamilton 992 is a size 16 and measures 2 inches in diameter, the most popular of size pocket watch. This fine Hamilton Pocket Watch circa 1916 has one of most desired configurations with this ornate Montgomery Dial, Grade 992 Model 1 Movement housed in this Wadsworth 10K Rose Gold Fill Case and highlighted with the original antique style Blued Steel Hands Spade/Spade Railroad Hands. This fine Hamilton Pocket Watch appears to have been used on the rails and does have “Railroad Watch Inspectors” marks on the inside back cover. This fine pocket watch does show some use but no abuse and has been well maintained as a service pocket watch. I so hope the pictures and extreme magnification help tell the story of this truly fine Hamilton Railroad Grade Pocket Watch.

This Hamilton 992 is faced with a Hamilton Montgomery Railroad Dial, one of the most ornate and desired of railroad dials. The dial is referred to as a double sunk dial, that being a recessed center chapter for the Hamilton logo. Then we have the raised outer chapter with the Hamilton Arabic font numerals and around the circumference along with each minute marker counted out in Arabic Numerals and every 5-minute marker highlighted in red Arabic numerals, one of the most ornate, functional and collectable of all railroad dials. These dials are manufactured using 3 Copper plates soldiered together, then the dial is baked with many layers of silica both before and after the numbers are applied giving the dial that deep rich porcelain, glass appearance. The only defect on this dial is a minor scratch on the dial under the logo. This Hamilton Pocket Watch is stunning, this Montgomery Dial shows beautifully against this fine Mainliner Case.

This Hamilton 992 has the Pin Stripped damasking on this fine 21 Ruby Jewel Movement. This fine movement also has a double roller, safety pinion and is adjusted to 5 positions and is also adjusted to heat cold. Then we also have a high-grade micro regulator, gold balance weights, gold jewel settings, gold center wheel and train with a steel escapement, all designed to make for an incredible accurate timepiece. This extra fine Hamilton 992 Movement is housed in this Wadsworth Mainliner Railroad Case. This case does have some brassing around the outer back from pocket wear, the only issue and this can be maintained as pictured with just an occasional hand polishing, I will include the polish and cloth. This fine timepiece has just been serviced and is an excellent timekeeper, everything you would expect from a fine top of the line Hamilton Railroad Pocket Watch.

This is another excellent of the late 19th early 20th Century ingenuity that made the American Pocket Watch a worldwide standard for accuracy and beauty in timekeeping.
